Welcome to the homepage of the Space Biology Group. The activities of our group focus on two different parts:
Research
The Space Biology
Group investigates the effects of microgravity conditions on cell cultures. For that purpose different means are used: simulations
on ground, parabolic flights and of course, crewed space laboratories. Our
group maintains the necessary infrastructure to simulate low gravity on earth.

BIOTESC (Biotechnology Space Support Centre)
BIOTESC, as part of
the Space Biology Group, acts as the Swiss support centre for International
Space Station (ISS) operations. We provide a well-equipped infrastructure as
well as training and support to scientists performing biological experiments in
space. During missions we monitor experiments conducted in the biological
research facilities KUBIK and BIOLAB.
